Dir. Ivan Reitman
Starring: Uma Thurman, Luke Wilson, Anna Faris, Eddie Izzard
We all know someone who’s gone out with a girl that is a little on the crazy side; very needy and controlling and very, very jealous. When they break up they make your life a living hell. Now imagine if this person was not only nuts but also had super powers! What would it be like? It’s totally whacky and scary, but über-fun when it’s not happening to you!
Under the quiet exterior of Jenny Johnson, hides G-Girl (Uma Thurman) who is always saving everyone else’s butt and has nobody to take care of her. When Matt Saunders (Luke Wilson) tries to flirt with her in the subway train, she brushes him off but when he runs after a thief that has absconded with her purse, she relents and goes out on a date with him.
Warning: Spoilers Ahead
Let’s face it… the sex is wild and she’s really hot… but he can already see trouble on the horizon as she turns insanely jealous of Hanna Lewis (Anna Faris) who works with Matt. She’s right, of course, Matt does have a thing for Hanna, but doesn’t believe he’s good enough for her. After G-Girl has a fit, he decides to break up with her and to pursue Hannah instead. Probably not his best idea.
What ensues is hilarious, good fun and action. Let’s just say a few things get smashed up when someone, who is already bonkers, flips out. Throw in a not so-evil super-villain (Eddie Izzard) who is a little on the kooky side himself and you have end up with a crazy evening where the super-capers are super-droll. The ending is a little predictable but it’s enjoyable all the same and I found it to be a romp of a good time.
